Earth Day 2010

What are you doing for the environment? It's hard not to think about the effect we as humans have on the earth. We just can't seem to get away from the constant bad news -- there's that immense Pacific Ocean garbage patch, overflowing landfills, hungry polar bears. So much bad news that one can become overwhelmed easily (at least I know I can). So what to do? Reuse and recycle. Buy your clothes at thrift stores. Be more like my mother-in-law who hasn't bought anything new in 20 years. (Okay. She might be a bit of an extreme example, but you get the idea.)

There are things each of us can do individually without becoming too overwhelmed. One small thing we've done is to bring our reusable shopping bags to the grocery store. The amount of unused plastic bags lying around our house is almost zero now. I'm hoping that this little act will at least counteract the effects of the methane gas that Chance the Dog gives off every day.

Do what you can. Think about the environment.

Happy Earth Day!
